This golf blog post is going to offer you the best guide possible to golf etiquette on the course, so here goes…
Golf Etiquette is a set of rules that have been put in place by the R&A ( Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews ) to ensure that all golfers maintain the condition of the course, keep to the rules of the game and most of all, enjoy the sport as it should be played.
Pace of Play
Different aspects of the game like the pace of play is a big part of the etiquette. Players in there groups are expected to maintain there pace with the group ahead whilst trying not to full behind. This means being careful with how much time you use lining up and playing a shot, this is all well and good you say but, we do have to be mindful about the rest of the players on the course.
Course Condition
We all love going to the course and teeing off first thing in the morning but, none of us like turning up to a tee box that looks like its been run over with JCB, fairways that look like they have been dug up and especially greens that have been pebble dashed with rocks. This is why it is of the upmost importance to treat the golf course with respect, the way you would treat your own lawn at home. So please guys and girls remember to fix those divot marks on the tee boxes, fairways and repair those pitch marks on the greens.
Behaviour
All players should be respectful of the other golfers on the course, all this really means is that should you slice a ball into the trees try not to throw your club, shout or distract other players around you. Just a bit of common courtesy on the course can go along way for you and your game.
What we Should Wear
Although golf over the years has become a very athletic sport looking at the likes of Rory and Tiger and their fitness levels. We must remember that golf is a very elegant sport that has been around for many years and the dress code remains the same and is some what of a must. Generally Golf trousers, T-Shirt and Golf Jumper is the way forward, smart and comfortable i would say.
